Aseptic Compounding Pharmacy Technician (Sterile)

Location: Kennett Square, PA

Reports To: Pharmacist in Charge

Role Overview

The Aseptic Compounding Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in preparing sterile medications in a controlled cleanroom environment.

This position requires strict adherence to USP <797> standards, precision in compounding, and a strong commitment to patient safety, quality, and compliance.

What You’ll Do

Prepare Sterile Compounded Medications

  • Accurately compound sterile medications following established formulas and aseptic technique

  • Perform proper gowning, gloving, and cleanroom procedures

  • Label, package, and document all compounded products

Ensure Compliance & Quality

  • Follow USP <797>, HIPAA, and all internal SOPs

  • Maintain accurate compounding logs and batch documentation

  • Identify and report any contamination risks or deviations immediately

Maintain Cleanroom Standards

  • Support environmental monitoring and cleaning protocols

  • Maintain equipment, inventory levels, and sterile supplies

  • Always ensure cleanroom integrity and readiness

Support Operations & Team Efficiency

  • Collaborate with pharmacists and technicians to meet production goals

  • Assist with inventory control and workflow coordination

  • Participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or equivalent required)

  • Experience in sterile compounding (preferred)

  • Strong understanding of aseptic technique and cleanroom practices

  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Ability to follow strict procedures in a regulated environment

  • Team-oriented with strong accountability

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required (bachelor’s preferred)

  • Minimum 1 year of sterile or non-sterile compounding experience

  • Completion (or ability to complete) aseptic technique validation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods in a cleanroom environment

  • Ability to wear PPE including gowns, gloves, and masks for prolonged periods

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision
